Republican lawmakers in Iowa have filed a petition demanding that the state immediately stop reimbursing low-income rape and incest victims for abortions through Medicaid. If the rule is implemented, it will conflict with federal law and could jeopardize the state’s entire $1.8 billion annual Medicaid grant.

“The No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” which limits the government’s definition of rape to cut off many victims from abortion coverage, might not pass Obama’s desk—but it sends a message to all women that certain kinds of sexual assault don’t count, says Michelle Goldberg.

  3. Thank you for doing all the work that went into creating this list1 How can Repugnants say there is NO WAR ON WOMEN WHERE THERE ARE THIS MANY ATTACKS! I suggest every woman, 18 & over who can legally purchase a gun to do so & to get training with it instead of buying shoes, getting their hair or nails done, or buying a latte every day! Learn how to use a gun & get a permit to carry! Then once they change the definition of rape to include whatever, we can use the Stand Your Ground Laws to KILL our attackers! Too bad we can’t kill the men who are loosening the laws regarding our SAFETY!

  4. Here are a few more to add if you want. I’ve been venting about all this bullsh*t, too. But not keeping up on all the states like you are. Holy cow! Nice job! Thought you may want to add these… . These are on my WP blog, but they have links to the sources.

Actually, the first link is a search result to four articles about Arizona. The Jan Brewer one is unique, but the other three are all about the same bill. Just not sure which one you’d want to see. One I’m venting… which I tend to do a lot of on my site. They are:

    * AZ Gov. Jan Brewer Now Plays God over Women’s Bodies (this is the bill where women are now pregnant two weeks before they’re actually pregnant… yes. That’s right. If I go into AZ, I could suddenly be pregnant.)

    * AZ Rep. Debbie Lesko (R) Defending Her HB2625 Allowing Employers to Opt Out of Birth Control Coverage

    * AZ Rep. Debbie Lesko (R) Crashes Democratic Press Conference

    http://motleynews.net/?s=lesko

    * Wisconsin SB 507 Lists Single Parents as a Factor to Child Abuse and Neglect

Wisconsin SB 507 Lists Single Parents as a Factor to Child Abuse and Neglect

  5. Oh, shoot. WP still thought those two links with DOT were links and hyperlinked them. Well, just in case, I posted a comment with two links. If it’s not waiting for approval, then check your spam. Also, if you don’t mind, would you so kindly change the DOT back to the real dot “.” Since they’re hyperlinked like they are now, they’re going nowhere. Thanks!

      • I was completely shocked when I went to your page and saw all those. I mean, jaw hit the floor shocked. Thanks so much for your tenacity on keeping up. And I think it’s time for me to keep the info moving forward. I’m thinking about writing a post per state. I need to create a category and add War on Women to my top menu, too.

And I will be at our state capital, Santa Fe, this coming Saturday. This is going to be huge all around the country. HUGE!
